FAQ

What is professional coaching?

The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

Is a coach a motivator?

While motivating people is one of the results of coaching, the work and core essence of a coach go beyond being a cheerleader, providing inspiring quotes and videos, and suggesting affirmations for the day.

A coach partners with and supports you to pursue and meet your professional goals and personal dreams. A coach enables you to be the source of your own motivation.

Is a coach an advisor or consultant?

Advisors and consultants are professionals who provide expert advice, answers, and solutions to a specific issue, based on their own experience and knowledge.

A coach, on the other hand, empowers you to explore the issue at hand and discuss different scenarios and solutions—enabling you to choose the course of action that is best for you.

Is a coach a psychotherapist?

A psychotherapist is a licensed mental health professional. Per the American Psychiatric Association, psychotherapy is a way to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties.

In contrast, a coach engages with you in thought-provoking conversations that provide new perspectives to help you find solutions to current challenges, and, through various tools and methodologies, enables you to modify behaviors and patterns.

If you are currently experiencing mental health issues, please contact a licensed mental health professional.
